Following the popularity of recent band concerts held in the theatre, The Spa will play host to a selection of brass, silver, wind and concert bands throughout 2012 under the umbrella of Bandstand@TheSpa. Starting in Februaury, concerts will commence at 2.00pm with a 40 minute interval during which a cream scone tea will be served. Please note: this must be pre-booked Bandstand discount: book two concerts together and receive £1 off each ticket. Book three concerts together and receive £2 off each ticket. Dinnington Colliery Band - Formed in 1904 by miners from County Durham, drafted into Dinnington to help with the sinking of the new colliery shaft. Following the closure of the colliery in 1992, the band faced financial hardship. Their struggle for survival was recognised by the BBC when the band were selected as A Band for Britain - a three part documentary broadcast on BBC2 in March 2009. In March 2011 the band won the 4th section of the Yorkshire Regional Championships in Bradford and will represent Yorkshire at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain
