 Sewerby Hall

The Hall was built by John Greame between 1714 and 1720. His successors added to the house and Sewerby Hall now has fine period rooms of the Georgian, Regency and Victorian eras, including a magnificent 19th century conservatory known as the Orangery.

Sewerby Hall is also the Museum of East Yorkshire and features an East Yorkshire photography gallery, a display of regional history and the Yorkshire Showcase Gallery which has a varied exhibition programme of regional contemporary arts and crafts. There is also an Amy Johnson room displaying a collection of her awards, trophies and mementos. The estate bought by Bridlington Corporation in 1934 was opened to the public on 1st June 1936 by Amy Johnson.

Gardens and Outdoor Activities
Stroll through 50 acres of parkland with woodland walks and Marie Curie Daffodil Trail. Experience the tranquillity of the beautiful formal and walled gardens. Don't miss the elegance and symmetrical design arrangement of the pleasure gardens with their monkey puzzle trees which are reputed to be amongst the oldest in Britain. The children's zoo provides an exciting introduction into the world of animals. Children will love the playful monkeys, frolicking pygmy goats, stately llamas, and cute penguins.

The Adventure Playground is the place to go for the kids to burn up all that excess energy on many types of challenging play equipment, while the parents can relax on the adjacent benches or at the picnic tables knowing that the area is protected by 'rubberised floor matting' and enclosed in a dog proof perimeter fence.

Test your bowling skills on the crown bowling green or just relax and spend a summer afternoon watching the skills displayed at weekend cricket matches held on the cliff top. Why not try our 10 hole pitch and put golf course. A challenging course suitable for both serious and recreational golfers. Alternatively the whole family will enjoy the ever popular 18 hole putting green. After your walk through the gardens, museum and zoo what better than being pampered in our traditional Clock Tower Tea Rooms.

Disabled Access - The Gardens, Tea Rooms, Zoo, Hall and museum are user-friendly. There is a unisex disabled toilet inside the Hall and in the Grounds Courtyard.
Dogs - Allowed in the park on a leash. Not allowed in the Hall or the Zoo.
Push chairs - Allowed in the Gardens and Zoo. Not allowed inside the Hall.
