Spa renovation nears completion
A multi-million pound refurbishment of an historic East Yorkshire landmark has reached its final stages.
A modernisation project costing £19.5m has been under way on the council-owned Bridlington Spa for two years.
Alterations have included a new entrance, windows and extensive repainting of the art deco interior.
Development manager Nigel Atkinson said the work was on schedule and the spa, with its 1930s ballroom and Edwardian theatre, would reopen in May. East Riding Council said it hoped the modernisation of the spa would boost tourist numbers and contribute to the regeneration of the economy.
Mr Atkinson said: "We're absolutely delighted that we're finally getting to the stage where we can look forward to re-opening with a brand new, shining building."
