The Walk

Your walk starts along a public footpath by Low Fordon Farm at the west end of the hamlet.
You then follow the valley bottom all the way up the gentle hill through North Dale and Lang Dale, passing the sites of tumuli.
Near the top end of the Lang Dale take a footpath (Centenary Way) across the valley to then take the walk to the road by Sharpe Howe.
After admiring the view to the west and the south, turn down the road and follow it past Danebury Manor. You then follow a track downhill to Cans Dale where you will meet a road. Walk along this road to return to Fordon.

Features of Interest

- The view from the road near Sharpe Howe is among the best in the Yorkshire Wolds
- The tiny St. James' church in Fordon is the smallest active church in Yorkshire, possibly in England. With parts dating from Norman times, it has had a chequered history, reconsecrated at least twice, and reputedly serving for a time as a smugglers' den, before being recently refurbished by the villagers.
