The Eye On The Bay started
going round again earlier today (Friday) and will be open to the public tomorrow.
Businessman Michael Harrison struck a deal just a few hours ago to get the striking
observation wheel re-open.
He told the Free Press: "The company we leased it from got into financial
difficulties. They are now out of the picture and we have managed to do a deal
with the banks involved to keep it in Bridlington.
"It will keep bringing people back to Bridlington and this is what we always
wanted."
The £1m wheel was switched off in December when Haydock Finance arrived
at the site and removed part of the control panel, in a dispute with the wheel's
former owner Yorkshire Carousel.
Mr Harrison's company Harrison Leisure leased the wheel from Yorkshire Carousel
and leased the land it stood on from the council.
"We had our hands tied and had no control over the situation but we have
managed to do a deal so that we are now the operators.
"It has been hard work but hopefully it will have been worth it. We are
quite happy to keep it in Bridlington as long as it is viable and we don't see
why it will not be viable in Bridlington all year round."
